Dear Families,
For the remaining 10 days of school, we will all take a step back from instruction in order to give staff, students, and families an opportunity to officially close out this school year, but also shift our focus to our second core value of service to our students, families, and community. Over the next two weeks your students’ teachers will lead them through end of the year activities, remote fun, and reflection. Be on the lookout for additional details about what they are planning!
Our team will also come together in the next few days in order to clean out classrooms. Desk items, summer resources, and a surprise for every Deep Roots student, will be ready for families to pick up on Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19. As those days approach we will be in touch with pick up details and schedules.
Please continue to let your teacher know what your family needs and we will do what we can in order to set you up with resources. If you or your family are planning clean ups, peaceful marches, or community gatherings that bring a positive light to Kensington, let us know and we will spread the word and show up to support where we can.
In that spirit, we invite you to join us for the Kensington Solidarity March this Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 9:00am. Deep Roots families and students can meet outside of Deep Roots at 8:30am in order to walk for peace and unity in solidarity. Please be sure to bring our own mask and consider wearing Deep Roots green.
Thank you for everything you have done to support your student, their teacher, and Deep Roots over this school year. Although it is not ending the way we thought it would, we are confident that it is a year that we will never forget.
Stay safe.
The Deep Roots Team
