Dear DRCS Families, Staff, Partners, Supporters, and Friends,
As I shared with you previously, Mr. Logan Blyler’s tenure as the Deep Roots’ CEO will end at the conclusion of this school year. On behalf of the board, we thank Logan for his dedication and commitment to our families and community. Logan led us through our start-up and the trials and tribulations of COVID. At every moment, our students’ learning was of utmost importance!
Almost two months ago, I announced our CEO search. We asked our Deep Roots community to assist us in finding our next amazing leader. And, you all responded. We had over 40 qualified candidates apply for this position. We put many of them through a rigorous screening process. Finally, we brought a select few of them to the school to meet our students and our team. I am so incredibly grateful for the voices of our team – often taking time from their busy days to sit down with a candidate or provide feedback about what is needed for our next chapter.
Now, as we position ourself to be a K-5 school, we are excited to announce that Lucilla Perry will be our CEO for this next chapter. Lucilla comes to us with a wealth of experience as a teacher, school leader, and the supervisor of school leaders. She has worked endlessly to ensure our students in Philadelphia get the education that they deserve. And, she has worked tirelessly to address the inequities in our K12 schooling system.
Lucilla will officially start her work on July 1st. However, she will be spending time on and offsite throughout the month of June to ensure a smooth transition.
With that, I want to say thank you to Logan for his work and welcome to Lucilla as she takes over at the helm of Deep Roots Charter School.
Best,
Justin Harper
Deep Roots Charter School, Board President
